Evony Duty Officer General Philippa
Evony Duty Officer General Philippa

Evony's newest duty general, Philippa, is a versatile Warehouse Officer who can protect your resources, accelerate construction, strengthen your own troops, and weaken enemy forces. This guide breaks down everything you need to know — her background, skills, how to obtain her, and how she compares to Guinevere.

Background

Philippa of Lancaster was born in England in 1360, the eldest daughter of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster. As a granddaughter of Edward III, she received a thorough court education and developed a strong command of Latin and theology. Her distinguished lineage quickly made her one of the most sought-after candidates for royal marriage across Europe.

In 1387, following the Treaty of Windsor, Philippa wed King John I of Portugal — a union that forged the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, one of the oldest and most enduring alliances in history. Through diplomacy and wisdom, she deepened cooperation between the two kingdoms, particularly in their shared resistance against Castile.

Her greatest legacy, however, was the generation she raised. Philippa personally oversaw her children's education, instilling in them chivalric ideals and humanist values. The result was the so-called "Illustrious Generation" — among them Duarte, who became a learned and capable king, and Prince Henry, who would go on to launch the Age of Discovery.

Philippa died of plague in 1415 and was revered as a model queen and the "grandmother of the nation." Her vision united England and Portugal through both bloodline and legacy, laying the foundations for Portugal's transformation into a future global maritime empire.

Philippa vs. Guinevere

Both generals can serve as Warehouse Officers, but they are built around very different priorities.

Base Special Skill
Philippa's Treaty of Windsor boosts attacking ranged troop and siege machine attack and HP by 15% each, while also reducing all enemy troop defense by 15%. Guinevere's skill takes a different approach — she provides massive in-city ranged troop attack and defense buffs (+35% each) and debuffs enemy ranged troop and siege machine defense and HP by 15%.

Ascended Star Attributes
At 1st Red Star, Philippa gains a significant construction speed bonus (+8%) alongside a general troop attack buff (+10%), while Guinevere focuses on in-city ranged troop and siege machine HP. The 2nd Red Star continues this pattern — Philippa adds in-city ranged buffs and more construction speed, while Guinevere heavily stacks in-city ranged and siege machine defense. At 3rd Red Star, Philippa strengthens attacking ranged and siege forces further, whereas Guinevere applies a broad in-city buff across all troop types. The 4th Red Star gives Philippa strong in-rally debuffs against enemy ranged and ground forces, while Guinevere debuffs enemy ranged and siege machine defense and HP globally. At 5th Red Star, Philippa boosts all troop attack and defense with a rally capacity bonus, while Guinevere concentrates on stacking ranged and siege machine stats.

Specialties
Philippa's specialty kit leans into offense — boosting ground troop and ranged/siege attack, and offering superior resource and food protection (100% and 150% respectively). Guinevere's specialties mirror her defensive identity, with strong in-city troop attack buffs and enemy defense reduction, though her resource protection falls slightly short at 80% and 120%.

The Verdict
Guinevere is the stronger choice for players who prioritize city defense, with most of her buffs applying to in-city troops and significant debuffs against enemy ranged and siege forces. Philippa, by contrast, is built for offensive play — her buffs consistently favor attacking troops. She also holds a clear edge in construction speed, resource protection, and food protection, making her a well-rounded option for players who want offensive power without sacrificing city development.
